It's Okay If You Bleed
It's a shame that still in our country, many women don't use sanitary pads not because they don't want to but because they don't get to. But now we see a ray of hope in front of us and that ray of hope is PROJECT ALHARH.
SHALINI JHA
She is the beautiful and brave heart behind this hope of people. She is the founder of the Alharh project. She is one of the finest menstrual activists of our country. She is one of the changemakers championing menstrual hygiene.
She started this campaign in her hometown Bhagalpur,Bihar. She is also the Community Leader at 'Health Over Hygiene' in Delhi which aims at stigma-free sexual and reproductive healthcare services for unmarried women.
She also co-leads Terra, The Environment Society of her university and she strongly presents her views against the use of plastic materials. She had been a part of WeAddo and The Happy Turtle for a few months. She is presently connected with Youth Ki Awaaz as the Action Network Fellow on MHM.
She received her education at Carmel School , Bhagalpur
Mount Assisi School , Bhagalpur
Miranda House , Delhi University
and Ambedkar University, Delhi
PROJECT ALHARH
It had been started in the month of December last year. The name 'Alharh' itself suggests breaking the silence on periods and speak up as it is natural. It aims at creating a stigma-free environment for all the females. The current reach of this campaign on ground is 500+ females. It is one of the first three campaigns to be awarded a seed grant of rupees 50,000 under Youth Ki Awaaz.
Through this campaign the people are trying to teach people about the menstrual cycles and the menstrual products. The participants try to make the females believe that it is nothing to feel shy of. They try to make a normal and respectful environment for the females in the society.
They have been distributing sanitary pads to women/girls for their well being. They had also distributed more than 350 sanitary pads in Mayaganj, Bhagalpur.
SPECIAL NOTE
We hope that Miss Shalini and her amazing group continues this sincere work of helping women. May god bless this project with all the success he possibly can. May these beautifuls continue to help others selflessly. I hope more people participate in this phenomenal project and this project becomes a known one worldwide.
We bleed and bear,
Just to provide you with an heir.
There might have been
A time when we felt shy
But now we dare.
We don't want luxury
And share
But all we need is
A little respect and care...

Delete"SHE"
ReplyDeleteSat upright,
Until she realized
Her new jeans were stained
Belly pained
"Mood is switching? "
Guys mocked
Even ladies sighed
"Weren't you aware?,huh"
For a help they denied
But
SHE wasn't shy
Cuz God had given her a try,
Everyone knew IT was the reason
In the world they gave their first cry
When above all,
Almighty is justified
SHE is a warrior
The bleeding seems wise
And
To everyone's surprise
A new Nova begins to rise!
